Police arrested and charged 59-year-old Nelson Graves with two felony counts and one misdemeanor count of criminal sexual conduct. They believe he may have had oral sex with a 13-year-old boy.
Police say Graves had been helping the boy and his family find housing through the Red Cross during the past few months. He is now on paid administrative leave, and police are investigating whether he had contact with any other children during his time at the Red Cross.
Graves worked at the Red Cross as a caseworker handling about 15 cases at a time since March of 2001. Prior to that, he worked in the Refugee Services department of Lansing's Catholic Social Services from 1988 to 2001. Officials there say he may have had contact with children as a result of his job during that time.
Graves is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing March 18.
