It's election day in Ingham County, but some votes may not count.
The absentee ballots were late getting in the mail and also late getting back to local clerks. If the ballots aren't received by the time the polls close Tuesday, the votes will not count in the special general election. The special election is being held to fill Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero's former senate seat.
Ingham County Clerk Mike Bryanton says the ballots were late getting out because of the quick turnaround time in between the special primary and general election. Also, ballot printing was delayed for a few days because Republican candidate Vince Green won the primary election by one vote and it was unclear at first if he won the primary.
It's unclear how many absentee voters were affected.
