Black mold and leaky ceilings are shutting down Meridian Township's central fire station.
Firefighters have already moved out of the station on Clinton St. and will work out of the township's two other stations, but the chief says response times will be affected by as much as three minutes.
"We've been defeated by the water coming into the building," said Chief Fred Cowper. "We've had a battle here and basically given up."
See the extensive damage to the station tonight at five, as News 10's Lorne Fultonberg asks the township how quickly it can put its firefighters in a new station.
