Oldsmobile Park is the symbol of the rebirth of downtown Lansing. The park opened in downtown Lansing in 1996.
City officials say the park has led to the opening of 10 to 12 new businesses. The economic development corporation started a business loan program in 1995. The corporation invested $800,000 to bring in $4 million of private investment.
One official described the area as sin city before the park was built, but they say that's not the case anymore. The city is looking to continue development by building a new performing arts center and new residential lofts.
Officials say the next step is to have more residents living downtown.
