It has been a month since interim president Richard Liles took over the reigns of the Capital Area United Way. Board members voted him in after the former CEO, Bob Berning, resigned last month.

A few weeks later, the senior vice president, R. Paul McConaughy, also submitted his resignation for reasons - officials say - unrelated to the $1.9 million embezzlement from which the United Way is trying to recover.

In its efforts to get back on track, the Capital Area United Way is including the public in its search for a new, permanent president. People can log on to to offer insight into the qualities the next United Way president should have.

Staff members have also started a search for a new auditor. They expect to have a new auditor within the next two weeks.
