DETROIT (AP) -- Detroit police say someone pulled up alongside another vehicle stopped at a light on an Interstate 96 service drive and opened fire with an assault rifle, killing one man and injuring a second.
TV stations WXYZ and WDIV-TV say the wounded driver crashed through a fence and drove onto the westbound lanes of the expressway heading east. They say there were no collisions.
Police say the attack happened Sunday afternoon on the city's east side. They say the wounded man is expected to recover.
Investigators say they don't yet know if it was a random attack or whether the shooter targeted the men in the vehicle.
