This group called "TRIP" compiled federal traffic data to grade our road conditions, safety, congestion, and bridges.

Road Report Card

Conditions…………F………………D
Safety……………...C………………C-
Congestion………...B………………C
Bridges…………….D-……………..D

For road conditions, Lansing feel below even Michigan's below-average D.

This study blames the problem wholly on funding, saying the state and the feds are not adequately meeting the growing needs of Michigan motorists.

On the economics of it, they say it discourages companies from coming to Michigan, and it costs us the drivers on an almost daily basis.

"It's much cheaper to pay more to keep roads in good condition and save that 20,000 car a few more years," explains Frank Moretti, director of policy and research at TRIP.

M-DOT says the study really puts Michigan at an "average" marker, and that doesn't particularly concern them. They note the governor's previously stated commitment to improving state roads by next year.
