Four people are dead following an overnight fire at an Elsie farmhouse. A detective from the Shiawassee County Sheriff's Department says the bodies were so badly burned an autopsy must be done on each body to make a positive identification.

The Lindauers, four of a family of five, lived in the home on West Riley Road and it's believe they were the ones inside the home when it went up in flames.

The Lindauers were a fixture in the Elsie farming community. They ran a dairy farm. Bruce and Cathy were the parents, their son Steven was in his late 20s and Jessica was a junior in high school.

A neighbor tells News 10 they were good, hard working people.

The fire was reported around 3:30 Thursday morning. By the time firefighters arrived on the scene some 15 minutes later, the house was fully engulfed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
