The University of Michigan ranks 16th in raising money.
A national report says the Ann Arbor school received 251 million dollars in donations in 2005, while Michigan State University had gifts totaling 91million.
Both schools are in the middle of fundraising campaigns.
The Council for Aid to Education said universities across the country enjoyed a record-high level of donations last year. American colleges combined to raise 25-point-six billion dollars, almost five percent more than the year before.
Stanford raised the most with nearly 604 million dollars. Second was the University of Wisconsin-Madison at 595 million.
