Tens of thousands of customers remain without power after thunderstorms swept across Michigan's Lower Peninsula earlier this week.
Consumers Energy says Friday morning about 79,000 homes and businesses that it serves were without electricity.
The subsidiary of CMS Energy Corp. expects to restore power to the majority of customers by Saturday evening, but says parts of Calhoun, Kalamazoo and Kent counties might not have service until Sunday.
About 2,000 DTE Energy Co. customers were without power Friday morning, but electricity was expected to be restored later that day.
Thunderstorms with heavy rain, hail, strong winds and frequent lightning moved through the state Wednesday and Thursday.
