The EDS call center in Lansing is closing, leaving 220 Mid-Michigan residents without jobs over the next six months.

A company spokesman tells News 10 there's not enough work to justify keeping the facility open.

The laid-off workers answer phones at a computer helpdesk.

Layoffs will begin in April and continue through August of this year.

The company says it is offering severance packages to all of the affected employees.
