A line of storms ripped through Mid-Michigan Wednesday afternoon, knocking down power lines and tree branches. As of 11pm Wednesday, 5,600 Consumers Energy customers are without power in Jackson County and 4,350 in Eaton County. Roughly 1,400 more are reported in Ingham, Clinton and Hillsdale counties.
Two Olivet firefighters were hospitalized when lightning hit a tree around 30 feet away from their training exercise. The department says both are walking and talking tonight, and should be fine.
Lightning also split a tree in half in St. Johns, and scattered debris throughout southern Clinton County. Heavy damage and flooding are reported in Eaton County as well.
You can post pictures and video of the storms or the damage they left behind in the wilx.com photo and video galleries.
