Norvell Road is a rural route Jackson sheriff's deputies say two Brooklyn women were driving down close to five Saturday morning when one of them crossed the center lane and hit the other head on. The accident left both Karen Marie Wright and Julie Ann Reynolds trapped in a swamp until the Grass Lake Township Fire Department could get them out.
The Sheriff's Department is still investigating the crash, but Sgt. Wayne Bisard says he has suspicions as to what caused the accident.
"The area where the accident occurred there were no center lines, it's still under investigation at this point but that is one of the areas investigators are looking at,'" Bisard said.
Sean Powaga, who lives on Norvell Road says he thinks the Sheriff's Office could be right.
"I think down where the accident happened, it looks like the lines were covered up," Powaga said.
According to Powaga, the road was repaved about a year ago. He says there have already been a number of accidents on the road, one of which has already killed someone. That has Powaga taking precautions.
"You've got to watch that hill because you never know when people are going to fly over it...and that gully too...it's a blind spot," Powaga said.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says blind spots blanket a lot of roads in every county in Michigan and that it's important to be a defensive driver and always watch out for yourself.
