The state board of canvassers says the wording works. The board voted Friday green lighting language for a proposal to amend the state constitution to ban affirmative action programs in Michigan.
This follows major disruptions at a meeting last month when the board failed to vote to put the proposal on the November ballot. The votes have since been cast which means the proposal will be on the November ballot.
Jennifer Gratz is the Executive Director for the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative, the group backing the proposal. Gratz says she's happy with the outcome.
Luke Massie, National co-chair for opposition group By Any Means Necessary, indicated his group will file an appeal.
