Mark Hunter left the force last April, accused of sexual harassment.
The subsequent investigation left him charged with selling guns, possessing child pornography, and taping sex acts in his office.
He pleads guilty to some of those charges Friday morning in exchange for a deal. They dropped the charge of embezzlement, leaving him for a possible seven years in jail.
The prosecutor says they plan to ask for extra time, given the special circumstances of Hunter's abuse of power. They will also ask for restitution from the township.
"We felt the key charge was the public corruption because that was the betrayal of trust to the badge and to the people of Columbia Township," Henry Zavislak, Jackson County prosecutor, says.
"We're moving on in a better direction than the township's ever been before," says supervisor Ray Kuzminski.
