Budget woes continue for area schools, as Lansing Community College braces for more than $4 million in budget cuts.

With what might be a 10 percent cut in state aid, LCC is anticipating a $4.5 million budget shortfall for the next fiscal year. Officials say they are already facing more than $1 million in cuts this current fiscal year.

Director of Public Relations Ruth Borger says the college is trying to maintain dollars to instruction, but whatever cuts happen will have a dramatic impact for a while.

LCC is looking to integrate programs to save money, but wouldn't comment specifically. In the last two years, the college has eliminated 19 administrative positions. Officials say they are also looking at early retirement options.
