31-year-old Michael Lee Castillo was arraigned on
kidnapping and drunk driving charges Friday in East
He is already on parole for first-degree criminal
Police tell said Castillo -- a construction worker and
student at Lansing Community College -- did not know
An officer rescued her during a traffic stop. '
"It was a random grab, [Castillo] does not know the
woman he apprehended," said Det. Mike Phillips. "It's
unusual to come across something like this, and we're
very proud of the officer who made the arrest."
Police are not releasing the name of the victim, but
confirm she is a 21-year-old student at Michigan State
If convicted on the kidnapping charges, Castillo could
face life in prison.
