Pfc. Brian Daniels was the only soldier to survive an IED attack on his truck.

"A lot of death," he says. "And even when you are over there, you just don't think...you always talk about coming home."
His homecoming was premature, his leg shattered. After 10 surgeries, his doctor's say he'll walk and his recovery is coming along quickly.
He planned to surprise his mom on this Christmas Eve, and his stepdad surprised him. He had a police escort, complete with vets who lined the street, as he drove to her home in Grand Ledge.
