Im a owner of a small party store.I for one can not stand the garbage that comes in my store.I have no room to put it,And it stinks.If they added plastic to the miix i for one will stop caring that product.I just dont have the room for more garbage.Think about our food stors where garbage bag's of bottle,s Are carried in Leaking of filth and bugs in the p[lace where you go buy your food to eat.Can it be that heathty i think not. What michigan need to do is get rid of the 10 cent deposit.And stop making food and small store's taking garbage into there stores.We dont get paid for playing with your garbage and we do not have the room to store the garbage.The state needs Reclycling drop off points.Dont make your food store be the state garbage dump.Remember you eat the food that comes from there.Its just not right and it needs to change.
Some say bottle water is on it's way out.New water filters are going in many homes.Saving costs for thoes who think that bottle water is so great.They are finding out it is not special water,just filtered water comming out of the ground,out of a faucet,ect.Filtered water.CONVIENCES for people,nothing more.Has become a big money making item.The jobs employ many people.Many are cutting back do to hard times they are having.Sure that water may just taste better due to stuff cities put in our drinking water.Water is something we need in our bodies.It would really cause water bottled compaines a problem if city water places could make our drinking water taste better.Trillions of bottles either get recycled or go into landfills a yr.Recycleing plants supply jobs to.Pop is being a less in demand by people also.taste good,but not really the most healthy.Not a nessary item.Depending on income what some must do without.Deposits are not the issue as much as what some can't afford any more.
Jimmy, that is very untrue. Before pop bottles and the like did not have a deposit on them and people were saying the same things you are. A) There is a higher recycling rate for states that have a deposit on their cans and B) No one is really "losing" money, because you get the money back in the end IF you recycle. There is no way that there will be less sales of bottled water because of a 10 cent deposit, just like there wasn't a decrease in sales when pop gained a deposit. Some people might not by bottled water BECAUSE they don't find a need to recycle them, but if it is easier, like the way pop is, then more people will recycle.
I don't care if its $1.00 a bottle, people will still toss them out their windows while driving down the road. Putting the deposit on the bottles will mean more people will quit purchasing the item, so then the companies that produce the product will be loosing income, so then they will up the cost, to only loose some more customers. The cycle never ends. Leave things as is, put a depost on stupid ideas of lawmakers, now that makes more sence.
Where do we put the bottles if the stores no longer need to take them?Same place they went years ago.Out car windows,in garbage that goes to landfills.Just sits for years,never going away.Plastic,mans answer to everything.No store should have to put up with the dirty bottles returned.However people do that,and stores should be able to say NO if not cleaned out right.Many go out looking for returnable bottles due to hard times they are having.What do we do about the plasic problem many things now come in?It is like asking if plastic should be done away with?What becomes of the earth is mans future.How many really recycle?Is not it easier to just throw into the garbage man has so much of now?Seems like unless someone can make money off of something,it just goes to the garbage.
It is about time that plastic and juice bottles are included in the ten cent recycling program. Recycling these items only costs ten cents, and they are removed from our roadsides, parks and city areas. We already have automatic bottle and can recyclers. Another recycler is not going to hurt a grocery owner. Our legislators have no problem increasing their pay while increasing our taxes. How about them actually doing something correct and adopting this new law for recycling plastic water and juice bottles.
I think this is a wonderful idea and I hope it gets passed. If the pop bottle refund works do well then I think the water bottle and juice refund will work just as well.
