Two inmates who escaped from an Adrian prison by hiding in the back of a garbage dump truck had only a half-hour of freedom.
Lyle Curtis and William Michels left the Gus Harrison Correctional Facility in a truck that had been picking up garbage at the prison.
A state corrections department spokesman says Curtis broke his leg when the two men jumped from the truck at a nearby landfill.
The men abducted a man shoveling his driveway and forced him to drive them to an area strip mall. The man's neighbors saw what was happening and called authorities who arrested the men when they arrived at the strip mall.
