Sugar Beet Juice De-Icing Mid-Michigan Roads

It sounds like something you'd find in the kitchen not on the roadway, but Lansing based Advanced Dust Control is pitching sugar beet juice as a new way to de-ice roads.

An Indiana company holds the patent for the additive, but it's made its way to Mid-Michigan. Meridian Township and the Ingham County Road Commission are the first in our area to sign on.

The product is supposed to be safe for the environment, cost effective and has a much lower freezing point then regular rock salt.
