Longtime Lansing business Van Houten Produce is back in business back where the business began.
It closed in November following a difficult year topped off by the October death of owner Jeff Van Houten. Van Houten chased after a man he suspected was stealing and he later collapsed at a nearby store.
Saturday Van Houten's girlfriend and two daughters re-opened the business at the Lansing City Market. The produce shop had been a staple at the market for 15 years before moving to its Cedar Street location.
The three women are running the stand now simply called The Van Houten Girls.
