Increased research, a state of the art facility and eventually more health care workers. Just a few of the extras you may experience with the proposed expansion of Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine into Grand Rapids.

Additional details about the proposed expansion were released on MSU's Web site Thursday. In the form of work papers used to compose the "Proof of Concept" announced Wednesday, financing the expansion would happen in part from about $100 million annual research dollars. A new building purchase would cost about $60-70 million. The research staff should surpass 150 people by the sixth year of the program and the expectation is to have about 350 students living and working in West Michigan.
