I cant believe that this man didnt get life. Ive met this beautiful child and her grandmother and mother and she is loved very much here and by other members of the family. What he did to her was horrible no man or woman should live. This is a sweet little girl who is runied for life, I hope she will never remember the abuse that she went thru. Hang him like the old days

Are you serious? This is as good as Michigan judicial system can do? I'm ashamed, how pathetic! This being deserved life. The normal one he took from his little girl.

How come a drug dealer gets more time than a child abuser??

Well, all of you must understand that the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office is usually too busy meting out sentences for infractions such as marijuana posession to spend prosecutorial resources on something like, oh I don't know...CHILD RAPE. Yes, I realize that the prosecution had a weak case due to conflicting expert testimony, timelines, etc., and they preferred that the accused plead out rather than go free, but I think that perhaps if their resources weren't habitually squandered on non-violent crimes (i.e spending taxpayer money busting mostly harmless hoodrats for a little pot, while victims of theft and violence are left to fend for themselves), then maybe they could have channeled their energy more effectively into strengthening their case. I've lived in towns where I felt law enforcement was there to serve and protect. Jackson is not one of them. I've lived in towns where I felt the judicial systems were there to serve the interests of the people. Jackson is not one of them.

I can not believe their was a plea deal even thought of in the case of raping a 3 month old. That is just not right.

He should have to report as a sex offender to let other people know what he is capable of. With this sentence he walks free in five years without any warning to the public. Once a sex offender always a sex offender! How anyone can take the innocence of a 3 month old baby is beyond me. I hope while he is in prison the same happens to him.

why should kirk coleman be let off so easy? that little girl has a lifetime of disabilities that she can thank her own father for. Yes he should have to file as a sex offender. he raped a 3 month old baby!! how can his lawyer live with himself? he helped put a rapist and child abuser back on the street! whos to say that when he gets out of prison he wont abuse another child or baby. this is ridiculous and disgusting that he is let off so easy!

When are these judges going to stop letting child abusers/rapist off lightly? The pervs are set free time and time again. Until, they kill a child. Why wait until an innocent child dies??

I have to wonder what was the mother doing ? did she not know that he had a drinking and drug problem ?also how could she not know of the baby'd injuries didn't she ever hold her ?..I personally think she is i some way just as responible as Mr. Coleman is

simple.cut off all private parts.cut off hands.sew mouth shut.orcut off toungue.turn him loose in a wooded area with men that could teach him a real lesson.or a bunch of real good moms.believe me there is no punishment that will be good enough for this so called thing after what he did.he is not human by any means.this child could not speak, fight back in any way and will have problems all her life.he's guilty, proven so.if this crime does not get proper punishment, then it will continue to happen to others by others.life with tourture.any thing less,I hope someone gets him in prison.and does a real number on him.several times.any lawyer or judge allowing less than what is right should be taken out of there place in society.as they must have some real problems also.many may of wanted to write a comment like this but facts are what they are and the guy needs to know what people really think.he should be no part of society or this earth.in cases like this no lawyer is deserved.

You people have obviously never been a victim of a crime or been involved in having to testify. In this case, there were problems, if you follow the CitPat you will know that the "experts" or doctors couldn't even agree on time frame or cause of injury, especially when it came to the sexual assault. What does that equate to? Reasonable doubt!!! What does that mean? He goes FREE!!! What does that mean? He gets custody of his daughter!!! DO you want him in a position to do this again?!? I think not!! Even though it is a bitter pill to swallow, I stand behind the Jackson County Prosecutors office!! They work for every victim and you should be ashamed to say the negative things about them that you have.

You got to be kidding me.He doesn't have to register as a sex offender and 5 years. So when he gets out he can have another baby and do the same thing to that one maybe worst. But hopefully when he get to prison everyone there knows what he did and they do justice where our court system didn't. Im sure that if this child was part of the prosecutor family that this guy would hang.I have seen this too many time in my life if you dont have money to buy your way you don't count. This poor little girl will have to suffer the rest of her life because this piece of crap scum bag had to get his jolly off with a baby.I say beat him within a inch of his life and leave him for the rats.

Let the men in prison hand out the proper punishment.

I think that Coleman should be sent up for no less than life. He has ruined the live of an infant girl and her mother.
