A key legislator wants the governor to jawbone state college presidents to lower recent tuition increases, but the governor refuses to disclose if she has done that.

The president of Michigan State University says there is a chance of a tuition rollback now that lawmakers and the governor have finalized the Higher Education Budget for next year. Dr. LouAnna Simon tells News 10 that MSU is "carefully looking at that."

Meanwhile the GOP chair of the House Higher Ed Budget Subcommittee is renewing his call for Gov. Jennifer Granholm to start "jawboning" or lobbying university heads to get a rash of double digit tuition hikes reduced.

When asked if she was willing to do that, Granholm refused to answer the question.
