TROY -- A minivan carrying a group of Indian computer programmers and their wives on the way to a Niagara Falls vacation has crashed in western Pennsylvania, killing six of seven people on board.
The programmers worked for Troy-based Syntel, an information technology contract services provider.
The van crossed a median on Interstate 90 and was hit by an oncoming car about 4 p-m yesterday.
Police identify the victims as 26-year-old driver Kaushik Deb, two couples -- Manoj and Mili Jharia and Nitin and Swati Agarwal -- and another passenger, Shubham Choudory.
Deb, Choudory, Manoj Jharia and Nitin Agarwal worked as software writers for Syntel.
The company is setting up a memorial fund for the families of the victims.
