General Motors Corp. says it has reached a tentative local contract agreement with the United Auto Workers at a Warren transmission factory.
UAW Local 909 had threatened to strike on April 18, but decided to stay on the job as negotiations continued.
GM spokesman Dan Flores says the deal was reached Thursday morning. It still must be ratified by the union's membership.
GM has been hit with strikes or threats at several plants in recent weeks. Workers are striking at factories in Delta Township near Lansing and in Kansas City, Kan.
