ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) -- A 15-year-old boy remains in custody as detectives try to piece together what led to the shooting of five people, including three young children, who were found dead in a New Mexico home.

A Bernalillo County sheriff's spokesman says the teenager was arrested on murder and other charges in connection with the shootings, which happened Saturday night at the home in a rural area southwest of downtown Albuquerque.

Detectives have not released the victims' names, but word of the shootings traveled quickly through the law enforcement community, and officials began offering their condolences for Greg Griego, a spiritual leader known for his work with firefighters and the 13 years he spent as a volunteer chaplain at the county jail.

Fire Chief James Breen says "Chaplin Griego was a dedicated professional that passionately served his fellow man and the firefighters of this community."

Authorities say each victim suffered more than one gunshot wound, and several guns were found at the home, one of which was a semi-automatic military-style rifle. Investigators are trying to determine who owned the guns.

We need to stop "glorifying" these shooters. When this sort of thing happens we plaster their faces up for 6 months and we make them household names. Most people couldn't tell you who was Lincoln's vice pres., but they could tell you who shot Lincoln. Same with the Kennedy assassination. Most seniors in high school now couldn't tell you the fifty state capitals or even identify all of the states on a map if they weren't labeled, but they could tell you the names of the kids that shot up columbine (these seniors would have been about 4 at the time). I think the "why" when this stuff happens does warrant discussion, but certain organizations/parties need to stop using these shooters to demonize things like guns or medications that do help people (unless abused). And what is almost as bad is these same organizations make martyrs out of the vicitms so they can try to push their agendas.

WILX, Please report what kind of prescription drugs this teenager was on. That is the real reason these tragedies are happening. I think you should do some research on this. Almost every single person involved in a violent massacre, (not just gun violence) was on or withdrawing from some sort of a prescription drug. My guess, is that the main media will not report on this, because the pharamaceutical companies are your biggest customers for advertising. The media only wants to describe what kind of gun it was. My guess is, this cover up goes way beyond the media and straight to the White House.

We'll have to wait and see what the full story is, but I'm going to wager that this kid (like all the other people who commit these types of crimes) had a mental health history or some type of record of mental instability. I'll also wager that this instability was known by someone but no one could do anything about it until there was a crime committed. If I'm wrong I'll admit it on this site.
