JACKSON COUNT DAY:
Two surprises for the Lansing and Jackson school districts. Student numbers are up in Jackson, breaking a downward trend. The district gained three more students. The Michigan government counted heads state-wide Wednesday. Last fall, Jackson's enrollment dropped by more than 300 students. It caused a million dollar budget shortfall. This year, the district gained more than $20,000.
LANSING COUNT DAY:
Numbers in Lansing are down this year. The state tallied about 100 students less than last year. A total of 16,100 students were counted Wednesday. The district loses more than $6,000 per student. State officials will figure out how many students were absent before they submit a final count.
