A cost and space crunch at the Ingham County Jail has at least one county commissioner looking at tough ways to combat the problem.
Ingham County Commissioner Debbie De Leon has noticed an increase in the numbers of jail sentences handed out this year.
Her concern is the stress that it has on the county budget, saying each additional bed in the jail costs the county about $13,000 annually.
One idea she's looking into is capping the number or duration of jail sentences.
Some judges say that would limit their ability to do their jobs.
