It's been so long since MSU held a homecoming bonfire, no one's sure exactly when the last one was, but what better year to bring the tradition back than the university's sesquicentennial.
Grad schools spearheaded the effort to light the first bonfire since, they think, the 1970s.
The bonfire celebration ended when there was no room to have it in the center of campus. It reignited Friday on the field that hosts the MSU Ag Expo.
Aside from the bonfire from 9-1 Friday night, the university's hosting the "Homecoming Jam: Battle of the Beats" at the International Center.
The "Green and White Brunch" is Saturday morning at 9. Kickoff is at noon against Northwestern.
After the game, there's a concert at the Breslin at 8 p.m. called Spartan Spectacular.
