Donations Overflowing

As of Monday afternoon, Central United Methodist Church in Lansing had received so many donations for Hurricane Katrina victims that the piles of supplies were reaching the ceiling.

The church, along with numerous others, started collecting donations Friday after hearing that evacuees would be coming to Michigan. People of all faiths and from all over have been donating, not only supplies, but their time.

However, fewer evacuees than anticipated, so far, have come to the area.

The church says the donated items will not be wasted. Even if they don't make it to the hurricane survivors, they will be given to people who need them.

Volunteers say they just want people who are going through a hard time to know they're loved.
