A Calhoun County Sheriff's Deputy escaped injury when a minivan exploded into flames just feet away from him.

Deputies were called to investigate a minivan on fire in Newton Township, shortly after 10 o'clock on Friday night. As the first deputy on the scene approached, the vehicle exploded.

The dashboard camera in the deputy's patrol car caught the moment of the explosion. The force of the blast blew the deputy backwards.

A Marshall man and wife, aged 34 and 35 years old, had been in the van. Both were able to escape, however the husband did suffer minor burns to one of his arms.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but meth-making materials were found in the burning van.

Must have been the meth-making couple in handcuffs in the squad-car laughing in the background. Bet they wont be laughing in the future when in jail!
