Lear Corporation in Marshall announced Wednesday its closing, leaving about 130 employees without jobs. There will be a phase-out plan with the plant's final closure expected by the end of the year.

The auto-parts supplier produces injection-molded door panel and hard trim.

According to a company statement, "Lear (has) been negatively impacted by declining industry production, rising commodity prices, and intense pressure from our customers to reduce our overall cost structure. As a result, we are faced with more locations than we currently need."

Laid-off employees will be eligible for work at other Lear plants. Management will meet with union leaders within the next month to begin bargaining.
