The Detroit Project, a non-profit organization, is launching a new ad campaign on Sunday.
The two ads feature SUV owners. The Detroit Project's message is that SUV's use too much gas; gas that is bought from countries The Detroit Project says support terrorism. They hope the ads will make consumers think about buying fuel-efficient cars.
In Lansing, SUV owners and dealers say this ad campaign will not affect them. Dealers say Americans will continue to by SUV's, and owners say Michigan winters make four-wheel-drive cars very useful.
Environmental groups say that while the message of the ads might be aggressive, it does highlight the United States dependence on foreign oil. A message the country needs to address.
