Lansing Police and Lansing School District officers hit the streets early Wednesday morning, Count Day, looking for truant middle and high school students.

Armed with a list of about 50 names, seven teams of two knocked on doors, patrolled well known hangouts, and called parents.

In the four hours they were out, the officers visited 30 homes, brought nine students back to class, and wrote five truancy tickets.
