The first Cedar Fest in more than 20 years is planned for this weekend.

The last Cedar Fest party at Cedar Village Apartments was in May of 1986.
Police banned the party the year after and there hasn't been one since...until now.
"I heard about Cedar Fest," MSU Sophomore Jeff Harrison said.
"I heard it's going to be huge party," MSU Senior Aaron Hall said.
"They have a big thing on Facebook," MSU Senior Cody Hedquist said.
Someone created a "Cedar Fest" Facebook event that starts Saturday and goes all weekend.
"Everyone having parties and a good time," Hall said.
More than 6,000 people responded to the Web site and say they're coming.
"I think it's going to be outside because I think it's going to be nice out," Hedquist said.
In 1986, 4,000 people partied in the streets and caused thousands of dollars in damage. Eighty-five people were arrested and 33 injured.
Captain Kim Johnson of the East Lansing police department said things have changed since the 80s and he doesn't expect this year's party to be anything like the last one.
"Mainly our party ordinances have changed," Johnson said. "Parties that our selling alcohol, parties that have minors, parties with noise violations."
Johnson said the police will be monitoring the party,
"People on foot, people in cars and we will be handling any violations," he said. "Police have the discretion to write a ticket or take person to jail."
But hope people use common sense.
"If you want to celebrate, that's great, but we just can't have it bothering other people and spilling into the streets," Johnson said.
The streets are calm for now, no word yet on what the weekend holds.
"I think it's going to be big, but nothing too crazy," Hall said.
