Lawyers for the Capital Area United Way say they've amended their complaint against a former employee - Jackie Allen-MacGregor - who they say embezzled more than $900,000 from the Capital Area United Way.

The civil complaint now includes James MacGregor as a defendant, and indicates he may have benefited from the funds his wife is alleged to have stolen from the charity organization.

Lawyers for the Capital Area United Way say they plan to recover $615,000 - more than half of the missing funds - as a result of the insurance claims.

Meanwhile, Jackie Allen-MacGregor has hired Lansing's Fraser Trebilcock Davis and Dunlap law firm to defend her civilly and criminally, though criminal charges have not been filed against her.

Allen-MacGregor has until 3:00 p.m. January 15, 2003 to respond to the civil complaint filed against her.
