Police say Ronald Wenman killed Patti Jo Morris of Jackson the night of Aug. 8 while trying to steal cash from the Walgreens register.
Detectives in Jackson released video of the crime from the Walgreens surveillance camera.
Wenman sat in court with his head down during most of Thursday's emotional testimony, but at one point he fell out of his seat and collapsed on the floor.
Several eyewitnesses identified Wenman as the suspect. His lawyer, George Lyons, said his client is innocent.
The case will now move to the 4th circuit for trial. Wenman will have a psychiatric evaluation Thursday to see if he is competent to stand trial.
