The College Board says the average SAT math scores for the class of 2005 increased by two points over scores from last year's class.
Seniors who finished high school last spring scored 520 out of a possible 800 on the math section. Average scores on the verbal section were unchanged at 508.
The average for Michigan students on the verbal section was up five points to 568. The average math score was 579, up from 573 a year ago.
Only about ten percent of Michigan's 2005 class took the SAT. It's one of the lowest participation rates in the nation. Michigan students are far more likely to take the ACT exam.
