He's made 7 trips there in the past, but Father Peter Dougherty just returned to Michigan this last time after a 33 day trip with his group called the Michigan Peace Team.
They travel around the world to hotspots like Gaza. He brings home a unique outlook.
"The withdrawal from Gaza is one thing, but it's still a walled prison," he explains.
He sees the settlers withdrawal as just one concession when many more need to be made. Nonetheless, he has faith in peace one day. He says the children could be the ones to bring it.
"Our hope is the next generation of Palestianian Jews will says this is crazy, we want real peace," Dougherty says.
