A Winter Storm WATCH continues for late Thursday into Friday morning for the Lansing, Jackson and Battle Creek areas east into Metro Detroit.
We continue to monitor a developing storm system in the Weather Lab that has the potential to bring heavy snow to parts of the area. At this point it looks like the main focus of this storm will be to the south and east of mid-Michigan.
Heaviest snowfall totals by Friday morning should be in a swath from Northwest Ohio through Lenawee, Washtenaw and Metro Detroit where up to six inches of snow are expected. From Coldwater to Jackson, through Howell to Flint snowfall from the system should be in the 2-4'' range. Battle Creek, Charlotte, Lansing and Owosso see about 1-2 inches of snow. Under an inch is expected from Hastings to St. Johns.
A shift in the path of the storm on Thursday or Thursday night could bring changes in the snowfall forecast and that is why the National Weather Service continues to have the watch in effect.
