Police have a 'person of interest' in custody in connection with Monday night's Walgreens homicide.
A tip Thursday led police to a Blackman Township neighborhood on Garland St. just north of Parnell.
"The subject was arrested for parole violation but he is a person of interested relative to the homicide at Walgreens," said Lt. Aaron Kantor of the Jackson Police Department.
Kantor said he is encouraged by the arrest.
"He clearly matches the description we released earlier this week," Kantor said.
Police from Jackson and Blackman Township, along with officers from the dept. of corrections, spent the day searching the woods next to the neighborhood where the suspect was arrested looking for other evidence connecting him to the Walgreens crime scene.
No name has been released because the suspect hasn't formally been charged, but neighbors said he is the son of a man who lives in the neighborhood.
After the homicide on Monday night, witnesses described a red getaway car. Neighbors also said that when police arrested the suspect Thursday they also towed away a red car.
Formal charges are expected to be filed on Monday.
