If your child is four years old or starting school for the first year, most likely they'll need shots.
For four- to six-year-olds, they should have:
-4 doses of DTap, or DTP
-3 doses of Inactivated Polio Vaccine
-2 doses MMR
-3 doses Hepatitis B vaccine
-chicken pox vaccine if the child has not had the illness
Eleven- and 12-year-olds will most likely need a Tetanus/Diptheria booster shot.
There are also two new vaccines this year. The meningitis vaccine is not required but especially recommended for kids going to college. A booster shot of pertussis is also recommended for some adolescents.
