United Way Moving Forward

The Capital Area United Way made three significant announcements on Monday in its effort to recover more than $900,000.

Officials say they are recommending an independent blue ribbon committee be formed to review the charities' internal financial controls.

Officials also note the missing money will not affect the many programs and agencies the United Way funds. The money was not appropriated for last year or this year.

Jackie Allen McGregor is the former vice president of finance for the Capital Area United Way. She is being sued for embezzlement, fraud and forgery.

Her assets in Michigan have already been seized. However, officials have reason to believe she has assets in Texas as well.
