Dewitt Township is one step closer to replacing roughly 23 acres of farmland with a 91,000 square-foot shopping center.
The center would be anchored by Kroger and include a gas station, two banks, and retail shopping space. It would be located on the northeast corner of Airport and Clark roads.
While many people in the area welcome the proposed center, some worry it'll cause traffic problems.
The Dewitt Township Board of Trustees has to approve a special use permit before the project goes further. A meeting is scheduled for August 22 at 7 p.m.
The Dewitt Planning Commission has unanimously approved the project.
