General Motors reported an 18 percent drop in sales from a year earlier. However, sales for Lansing built cars increased during the same time period.
Sales for the Pontiac Grand Am were down about 6 percent, but the Oldsmobile Alero and Chevrolet Malibu were both up, close to 40 percent and 25 percent respectively.
Local union leaders say nothing can be steady forever. They say it's natural for a car that has been one of the company's best sellers to take a dip.
On Nov. 18, employees at Lansing facilities found out that overtime had been ceased. Union reps say the increase of the day supply of vehicles and the sluggish sales are the reason for the cut.
Union leaders say overtime may come back into play in late February or late March.
