The two bags of human remains found in the Red Cedar River near Webberville are flesh covered adult bones; that according to Ingham County Chief Medical Examiner Dean Sienko.
Michigan State Police are testing DNA from those bones and Forensic Anthropologists from Michigan State University are testing the rest hoping to identify gender, age and other specific characteristics of the victim or victims. Still no word on how long the remains had been in the river.
Meantime, Sheriff's Office investigators are looking into missing person leads and are contacting relatives for DNA samples.
