Two days before school lets out for summer, an eighth grade Holt science teacher is suspended. He's Lucas Funk, charged with first and second degree criminal sexual conduct and home invasion.

Ingham County Prosecutor Stuart Dunnings says the alleged incident happened May 14 after a social outing. Reportedly, Funk broke into a 23-year-old female acquaintances home and raped her. Funk never told the Holt School District about the charges and neither did Prosecutor Dunnings, at least right away. Michigan law doesn't require notification unless there's a conviction or if the alleged crime occurred on or within 1,000 feet of school property and involves a pupil or staff member.

Holt Superintendent Tom Davis says he found out about the charges Wednesday afternoon after Prosecutor Dunnings called to tell him about them. Funk was immediately put on administrative leave with pay. Funk will be back in court later this month.
