Horse racing in Eaton County? Don't bet on it just yet. A public hearing is being held Wednesday evening for those for and against the 200 acre project.
Eaton Rapids developer Dorian Lange wants to build the entertainment Mecca, which he says has more to do with horse events than horse races and gambling. Lange was granted a track license about eight months ago and now needs a special use permit to build on the site on Pinch Highway just off of Interstate 69 in Windsor Township.
Pinch Highway resident Donna Sweet is opposed to the project and says, "We don't need that here, this is a country setting." Windsor Township Planning Commission Chairperson Arnoldo Martinez declined to comment.
The public hearing will be held Wednesday in the Great Room of the First Presbyterian Church in Dimondale at 7 p.m.
